Works on camcorders, yeah!
These days it's all about photo cameras that take video in 4K 5K 6K and now 8K and most of the equipment such as gimbals, etc centre around these type of cameras. But some of us don't like pictures half out of focus such as with a face and the nose is sharp but the ears aren't or when the whole video is blurry because it is impossible to see on tiny screens. Or you have to also buy a lens because the camera doesn't come with one and costs as much as the body and great, it is a manual 3X zoom, big deal. Then when you zoom in the lens sticks out 1/2 a mile, great on the gimbal. The still camera has to have a gimbal focus assist motor strapped to the side and only does focus, same with a gimbal control, no zoom. So camcorders are ideally suited for gimbal work but gimbals are designed for ... So camcorders are ideally suited for gimbal work but gimbals are designed for wide but short still cameras not long skinny camcorders so you have to make up an adapter plate like I do. Now since the camcorder has good auto-focus and you can't see the screen well enough on gimbals to manually focus anyway, that leaves only the zoom to be controlled. That's where this product comes in so well. The Rx sits in the hot-shoe on top of the camcorder, its lead goes to the Sony multi-port. The Tx can go on the gimbal handle or when the gimbal is in the cable-cam next to the monitor and can remotely control the On/Off, Zoom, Video Start/Stop and Grid Lines. The only function that does't work is the photo and 1/2 press to focus which are not need on this camcorder. So it does what it says on the box, which is getting rarer these days.
