About this product

Product Information

This Xbox version of Activision's hit first-person shooter features a number of enhancements designed to expand upon the original's gameplay. The storyline remains unchanged from the computer version, which finds players in the role of B.J. Blazkowicz as he prepares to infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein to put an end to Heinrich Himmler's diabolical plan of using hideous experiments in the war effort. Among the Xbox additions are new levels, items, weapons, and modes of play. The game begins with a prologue detailing the events leading to the title character's triumphant return to the place where the series began. New mechanical enemies can be stunned using EMP Generators, while players are able to protect themselves within the electromagnetic fields of an EMP Shield. Players can even smite minions of the undead with the heavenly power of the Holy Cross. <br><br>The shotgun found in earlier titles of the long-running series is back, as are the dogs -- only this time retrofitted with deadly cannons. Players can enlist the help of a friend in the all-new Cooperative Mode, while groups of soldiers can fight each other in team-based challenges on Xbox Live. As in the computer version, players can choose one of four roles as part of the Allied or Axis forces: soldier, lieutenant, engineer, and medic. Each character performs specific tasks and the team's commands can be relayed using the Xbox Voice Communicator. In addition to the PC version's multiplayer levels, many of which have been redesigned, new Xbox-specific stages have been included as well as an Elimination Mode, which has players fighting each other until only one remains.

    Great game just slightly below PS2 version standards

    Great game. Used to the PS2 version where the graphics are better, but for a 90% identical port to the Xbox, that i can play on my 360, im appreciative. This is my all time favorite FPS.

    Graphics-87/Sound-87/Controls-85/Blast Force-85/Overall-86 In the year 2011, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War doesn&apos;t stand as one of the best, but is still a great game nonetheless, and is worth adding to anyone&apos;s classic shooter collection. Make no mistake; it&apos;s far better than the PS2 port, but every category is above average with nothing spectacular or ground-breaking that can be noticed. The graphics move very fluidly, but with crummy art direction and the same bland id Software color palette from that era, it&apos;s simply unremarkable beyond the frame rate and level design. The sounds too feature some nifty weapon effects and humorous Nazi dialogue as well as an entertaining score, but is marred by muffled explosions and energy effects. In short, the ...

    Great game

    This game is a must play for fans of the series and newcomers. The Xbox version is my favorite and has a co-operative mode, but the PS2 version is pretty much the same but with some differences, mainly it doesn't have multiplayer. The PC version doesn't have the missions set in Africa, and to me, without those levels, the game feels a lot shorter.
