      a new window into Scotland and its people

      Since I hadn't seen every episode of Shetland from the beginning, this was a real treat, getting filled in on the background of this series. I'm forever grateful for the subtitles feature, as the first time around I definitely lost many words and sentences due to the dialect. The views of the stark land and the crofts and cliffs are wonderful, and the inhabitants become real. I am sending this, along with #3 to my niece, who loves all things Scottish.

      Endeavour Series Mysteries

      We have watched all three series on DVD and now watching series 4 on Masterpiece Theater on Sunday evenings. Endeavour is great, Inspector Morse is OK (But does not have subtitles), Inspector Lewis is almost as good as Endeavour. Wish there were more Endeavour series after series 4. Get all three series of Endeavour. Great gift for a good friend who would appreciate British entertainment (Most Americans under 50 would probably not like these British TV series as there is not enough violence, spectacles, or perversion to keep their 30 second attention spans.)

      Terrific show

      I have rewatched this season several times. It's that good. Excellent writing and acting all around. Brooding atmosphere, much like film noir. Based on characters created by Colin Dexter. This series showcases Inspector Morse's early life, when he was a young man, back in the 1960s. He's an opera fan, lives by himself, has an intermittent love live, and struggles not to get overwhelmed by uncertainty as he solves the cases. Shaun Evans is excellent in the title role. Roger Allam plays his father figure, Inspector Thursday. He gives him advice and tries to keep him out of trouble. I hope this series has many more seasons in store.

      Loving Being In Ballarat with Dr. Blake

      One the best mysteries series ever made. Every actor in this series contributes 100 percent to it's intriguing character development and becomes more and more endearing as the seasons roll on. Please tell me there will be a season 5 and 6 an on.......

      One of the best

      British murder mysteries are almost always fabulous, and this is one of the very best. The actors do an outstanding job, and the premise that Endeavor is a much younger Morse adds a fascinating edge. I will be buying the rest of the series.
