    One night in '58, writers Jack Kerouac & Gore Vidal crossed paths in the Village and hooked up at the Chelsea (where "The Lost Weekend" author offed himself). Jack turned the tryst into "The Subterraneans" and even dedicated a poem to Gore but, as a geezer, all Vidal had to say was "a reporter came to see me and the first question was 'What was it like *beep* Kerouac?'." Just goes to show: some men's fever dreams are just another night to others. Fan-tastic selection of rare pop culture pix!!!
