As with the first two of this series based on Gerald Lund's superlative historical novels concerning the advent, early history and travails of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, this offering doesn't hold true to the story line set forth by the books' author. Although reasonably well acted, this movie is too "splotchy", poorly relating and skipping over many of Lund's books' salient points. I feel that this movies drawbacks may instill wrongfull misconceptions concerning said church and its efficacy.
Take everything you know about Fairy Godmothers and toss them. This is all the old stories turned on their ears. Funny, touching, and terribly romantic. Find out about all the behind the scenes stuff that the Grandmothers do to make sure that every story has a happy ending, especially when the whole of magic wants a tragedy. I've checked this book out so many times the Library says I have to wait before I can get it again. So now I am gonna have to buy my own copy so I can read it over and over and over again.
This was an excellent book...it did a great job of playing off the fairy tales as we know them...the only thing I find that I don't like about it is that there isn't a second one yet that I have found. I only decided to buy it because I love the idea of fairy godmothers and the cover was intriguing.
