As I turn fifty this year this disk was a great find. I remember the Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 sounds emanating from the classic console stereo that my parents had as well as from their friends poolside parties. The remastered disk still sounds classic to me and the music evokes a fresh sound of the sixties with the advent of the latin elements fused with contemporary sounds of the day such as the Beatles. I am even making a copy for my mother who turned 75 this June. Still good after all these years.
I grew up with this as my mom played this all the time along with Bert Bacharach, Herb Albert & the Tijuana brass & my mother was not latino. The music is so different & with Lani Hall on vocals ... wow. Songs are sung in Portuguese & English ... some songs .. a little of both. Outstanding contemporary CD. You can hear their songs online, but, not all of the ones on this Platinum Album.

There is nobody who does not love this album, the first A&M album by Sergio Mendes back in 1966...Sergio had been releasing music in America, and his 1965 album for Capitol Brasil 65 featuring Wanda De Sah was a great introduction to the contemporary Brazilian bossa nova...but Brasil 66 was the real deal. This acoustic jazz and pop compliment with those voices headed by Lani Hall dominated the music across the globe for five years...the greatest thing for me is how short this album is, barely 35 minutes...44 years later, I play this regularly, and rejoice in how it is pure pleasure and musical mastery. and has not only endured over the years, but has outshined so much other music
Great vintage music

I just love collecting original albums of Lani Hall. Always a pleasure to listen to her. I just wish they came out with a dvd featuring their masterpieces.
