    As always with Bowie, something completely different.

    As with all things Bowie, this album delivers a consistent style and demonstrates a wide range of vocals and musicality. The bonus tracks are definitely worth the minimally additional expense. His rendition of Bertolt Brecht's Alabama Song (more popularly covered by the Doors)as well as Crystal Japan are whimsical in their own rights. His acoustic version of Space Oddity is, I think, far superior to the original recording, which is phenomenal. The more rocked-out version of Panic In Detroit is fantastic.

    Ashes To Ashes

    The first three songs go by and I'm like this is pretty average and not really my thing and then Ashes To Ashes comes on. Wow, now this certainly takes Scary Monsters up a notch in my book. Then Fashion comes on and ruins the mood (I get a talking heads disco vibe that works for TH but not Bowie IMHO). After this it recovers to average and stays that way until the end. Yes, I like this CD. No, I don't love it. 3 1/2 Stars.
