After reviewing book I found that most of the recipes on the TV show were not in the book. Just a general recipe that could be found on any recipe web site. I would have preferred actually getting the exact recipes for the food dishes seen on the episodes. So that I could reproduce the dishes at home. Although, the info of the places were nice I was looking more for a cook book of the featured places seen on Guy's show. We will try to look up restaurants in towns that we will visit that are featured in the book.
I watch his show all of the time on The Food Network. He is so sincere about his reviews of the places he visits. I love his reactions. I bought his book because I am planning a trip to the east coast that will take me across the United States and I wanted to be able to visit some of the places he has and try some of the dishesand hopefully be able to get some autographs in my book. I bought it on ebay because I was able to get it new at the best price I could find at the time. I find I am turning more and more to ebay to find items I am wanting and am having great success. Ebay is great.
I bought this book as a birthday gift for my husband. He is a huge, "Triple D" fan. My husband now wants to get Guy Fieri's other book and DVD. I will buy them for future gifts. He loved what recipes were in there,he just wished there were more. Good pictures to go along with some of the recipes. The recipes are easy to follow. He has not tried any recipes yet, still reading it. The book each section begins with the history of the eating establishment with a picture of it, followed by the recipe. More then a recipe book it is a road trip!!!!
I love this book that goes so well with the television show. i love that the foods I have ssen served in thise far flung restaurantss are now available to make in my own home(or at least a sad approximation). the recipe's are easy to follow and the pictures and "extras " are great. I love to go on car trips and now plan my route's to include any of thes diners or dives I might be venturing near. I am lucky enough to live near to one ot them, Joe's Gizzard City in Mi. although I have not tried the "triple D burger". It is a little to big for me. If you love this show I would reccomend this book.
The book was advertised as like new but had a large (half the page) fold in the front cover that wasn't disclosed. Rest of book was undamaged. Shipping was slower than expected.

Being a person who loves to travel.... This book is awesome.. First stop was the Squeeze Inn in Sacramento.. THE BEST BURGER EVER! A must if your on the 5 freeway.. Over 450 miles from home but because of the book I knew where to go on my travels. My next destination? Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero.. If you love to travel and love food as I do this book is a must.. Can't wait for the next one.
This is a fun book it you love the series but I suggest you check the recipes before you buy it. None of the ones I hoped would be there were. I think I'll give it to another fan of the series who probably won't care. I love this series and some of the recipes are unusual and I think Guy took the more regular ones hoping most folks would find some they liked. I wish he'd done the other side and share the odd specialties but if you like the show and you like Guy, you'll probably enjoy this book too.
This is a book my son has wanted for a long time. If you are followers of the show, this book is a must have. We are enjoying the commentaries and the recipes.
