Brilliant pocket-size technology, smarter than your phone.
A lot of camera for your money. So many of us have discarded our compact cameras in favour of the ones on our mobile phones. There are many advantages to small cameras like the SX230, but the biggest one of all is the lens. This has a x14 optical zoom, giving a focal length range of 28-392mm (35mm film equivalent). And don't be put off by the 12 megapixel, 1/2.3" image sensor - 12 MP is more than enough for snap-shooters and pros alike, so longs as you're not expecting to produce poster size images every day. In fact, with fewer pixels the signal to noise ratio is improved so you get better low light results. Finally, you even get GPS tagging with this model.A lot of camera for your money. Great value for money, definitely a fantastic product and extremely happy!
I absolutely adore this camera. Once you familiarise yourself with all the various fabulous settings, you can film and photograph effectively. My friend who is a pro photographer naturally has the big fat pro camera with various lenses etc, however my camera took the best shots. I could say that I'm a great photographer, watching for the finer detail, however, the camera settings were easy to manage and I captured exactly what I wanted for our fashion shoot. I also recorded footage at 240fps, in the rain and you could see the detail really well when played back in slow-mo. You will need a waterproof cover if you're in immediate rain as the screen clouded up a little, thus giving another effect to my photographs. You can choose to set your pictures to be printed to A3 in size which is ... I absolutely adore this camera. Excellent Point and Shoot Model
I bought this camera as a replacement for the same model I have been using for at least the last 15 years and through my own carelessness no longer worked perfectly. Its a great pocket camera for taking out and about if like me you don't have a phone up to the job of taking good photos. I've been delighted with the quality of the images I've taken and the ease of use even when in bright sunshine I haven't been able to actually see what I'm focussing on! I was lucky to find this "used" camera with all its accessories and in such good order at such a reasonable price.I bought this camera as a replacement for the same model I have been using for at least the last 15 years and through my own carelessness no longer worked perfectly. Canon SX230 converted for Infrared - different kind of images.
I have made changes to the CHDK settings which improves the picture quality. This does, however, result in some vignetting on RAW files. The camera is fun to use and does give a different insight into how you can represent what you see.

Top Notch little camera
This camera took excellent photo's, including Macro in my wild- orchid hunting forays, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a seriously good small Digital camera. Unfortunately I dropped it with the lens extended, and it immediately jammed and is now unusable.
