I remember when this game first came out in 1999: I loved it then and I love it now, and it still works fine with Windows 7. It's a real time strategy in space but you have to deal with moving your units in 3 dimensions instead of 2 like you would in most RTS games (like Starcraft). The gameplay is fun, the singleplayer campaign and story are both amazing with a great soundtrack as well, which is included on another CD with the game. I honestly don't know of any other game quite like this one, other than the rest of the Homeworld series (Cataclysm and Homeworld 2). If you love space sims or RTS games, you'll love this.
The game is still very playable for being as old as it is. It brings strategy, skill, and thinking all in one game. Very addicting, when you play online with the multiplayer you can be playing for hours and not even know it. in the multiplayer option, there are customizable maps with many new features which are great. The Game is overall a 10/10 with great graphics for being older. A great game for anyone who likes strategy, thinking, and overall skill. Buy this game if you ever get the chance.
See YouTube for details on the wonderfully done graphics and story line of this game.

This game is a GOTY which means it was one of the best games of that year, bar none. It is an epic space battle game and it is just fun. It is easy to find yourself wasting hours infront of you pc and loving ever sec of it.
Ever go back and re-read a good story? This was just like that for me. Played 10 years ago or so and loved it. Just as good now. Kind of reminds me of the new Battlestar Galactica show.
