Doctor Who Season 4, follows the title character, The Doctor (David Tennant), and his companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) across the universe in typical Tardis fun one expects from the show. For those that wish to start on the show Season 4 is not for you (although I do suggest Season 1 with Christopher Eccelston and Billie Piper respectively which are FANTASTIC!). Donna Noble returns from her one-shot appearance last season and continues to be in a older sister type role to The Doctor. Although Season 4 isn't the best of Tennant tenure as the Doctor its far from the worse. Memorable episodes include Silence in the Library, The Doctor's Daughter, Planet of the Odd, and the Season Finale which brings back many familiar faces old and new in The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. Tennant continues his stellar performance as arguably one of the most acclaimed Doctor's ever while he is accompanied by fan-favorite companion Catherine Tate. The Duo work well together and if viewers were put off by her in Season 3 (like I was) she is redeemed a few times during the season. Like any other season of Who, this season is filled with moments that are both memorable and essential for future episodes of the show (such as The End of Time special). While the season doesn't make me want to rant and rave with each episode, it is solid all the way through.Read full review
I'm an enormous Doctor Who fanatic! No ... seriously ... I mean, BIG. So, suffice it to say, while I adore the show, I was saddened by the fact that this DVD collection DOES NOT contain the episodes that lead to David's regeneration to Matt. Those are in a completely different set called "The Complete Specials". So ... now, I have to buy THAT set. :(

I bought this because of all the extras. I had already watched the 4th Season via the Internet. I didn't have the Confidentials, the outtakes, etc. ALL I can say is 1)We'll miss David Tennant when he changes/"Regenerates" December 2009 although I think Matt Smith will be an excellent replacement 2)I believe alot of us will be OVERJOYED to have a new producer on-board in the form of Steve Moffatt(sp) replacing the oft self-indulgent, agenda wonk Russell T.Davies. RTD is one of those people that doesn't believe in the right time to end something. He always wants to insert just one more tning into a story making it often rushed and confused (as was the last two episodes of this season)... When you have such BRILLIANT stories like the two-part "Silence in the Library/Forrest of the Dead" , single stories like "Midnight" and "Turn Left" it's disheartening and plain down right sickening to have Davies muck it all up by trying to stuff everything he ever did into the finale. No character development. Quantity over Quality. If one gets to see some of the specials, "Planet of the Dead" is another example of Davies need to satisfy himself before a good story-line everytime. Overall, this was a great season. Catherine Tate SUPRISED alot of us as being perhaps the BEST companion of the new series. So many were worried that she'd fall back on schtick from her TV Comedy show. I'm glad to hear that SHE will get a chance to RE-appear in the Season Finale' along with her "grand pa", 80 year old Bernard Cribbins as "Wilf". Worth the money I paid for it (25 bux free s&h) As the title sez, I'd have given the overall season an EXCELLENT except fot the finale. (sigh).Read full review
AMAZING! This series continues to follow David Tennent as the 10th incarnation of the protagonist of the BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who". The Doctor is a centuries-old alien humanoid of sorts from the planet called Gallifrey. He travel through time and space and parallel worlds in his spaceship called the TARDIS, most often with his "companions". The companions tend to be young, attractive women who help move the narrative along from a more humanistic point of view. Because the Doctor is a "man of different faces", he can regenerate his body whenever he is injured or close to death. This leads to different personalities, (and different women as well). In this series, actress Catherine Tate portrays the saucy temp worker Donna Noble. Together they face off even more unimaginable quests, most importantly, their friendship.Read full review
I've enjoyed several of these episodes with the 10th Doctor and Donna, and was very happy to find series 4. It was brand new and a very good price. One of my favorite episodes is "The Unicorn and the Wasp." Glad to own it!

This is a great show and a great season to boot. Plus the common enemy at the end of the season will definitely surprise you if you have been a fan of the show for a long time.

This is really good news to hear that this collection was granted to me for such a LOW price. I knew that modern engineering would pay off! I had a menu of items to fit my budget, and this item was squeezed in, on time. I had been following the series on BBC America, and I would be a fool NOT to buy it at liquidation price! I had some difficulty making the purchase, but I found a way! I guess I'm just Lucky! This conforms to the plan! This goes to show, that great adventures can be had that transcend cycular money patterns. Or, "It comes naturally to me like other curious things."_Injun Joe of _Adventures of Mark Twain
Series Four is my favorite so far due to the return of several of my favorite characters. Of the modern companions, Donna Noble is, in my opinion, the best. Strong-willed, opinionated, kind-hearted and not afraid to challenge the Doctor's decisions, as in 'The Fires of Pompeii', she was an excellent balance to the Doctor. It was a shame to see her go. Seeing Sarah Jane Smith aboard the TARDIS again was very nostalgic, and I'm glad she was included in this series. And then, of course, there was Davros, one of my favorite villains returning in all his glory, with possibly the most ambitious and insane plot in the history of television. Julian Bleach played Davros to perfection, and I hope he returns. Another classic villain, the Sontaran race, also make a spectacular return to Doctor Who, revamped and redesigned for the 21st century. Some of it was rather silly, the TARDIS literally towing planet earth through millions of light years of space to exactly the perfect spot it had been before was a bit much, for example. Otherwise, it was an excellent season filled with great writing and acting, as well as deep emotion.Read full review
Let's face it, I am a Dr. Who Fan. I have been since, as a American, I discovered the series in the mid 1970's. American was not an easy place for me in the 70's. I was not a hippy. I was not like everyone. I was more into reading books (I had a subscription to scifi books at Doubleday) and tripping out on all the wonderfully imagery found in them than taking drugs. I was a Malestrom AFB (my husband was in crypto in the Air Force) when I watched my first TV Dr. Who (a rerun on TV). The Snow Birds (from Canada) were on the base, but I would not leave until the show finished. I have been an avid fan since then. (I must admit to earlier sins of watching Star Trek and yes, forgive me, Lost in Space). I have most of the Dr. Who books that I could find at my local bookstores. The excitement really hit when I found E-Bay! I have to admit, being a little disappointed in the 1999 Dr. Who movie. I guess, by then I had built up missing Dr. Who for so long that nothing could have lived up to my expectation. But when the new British series started, I was in Heaven on earth. I loved the 9th Dr. and cried when he left. I loved the 10th Dr. and am scared at the thought of a new Dr. (The new Dr. looks to Boris Korloff for me. I have watched him in a few things (Ruby in the Smoke PBS series) and did not really like him. So, we will see.... I loved Donna. Donna was not about romance with Dr. Who, but action. I really loved her "get in his face" attitude, etc. I will really miss her. Although, I suspect she will be back for the last of the 10th Doctor's going away. Don't get me wrong, I like Rose. I preferred the chemistry between the 9th Dr. and Rose over that of Rose and the 10th Dr. I guess I am pretty much alone in that analysis. I did not care for Martha, her character mopped to much about liking the Dr. and him liking Rose. My all time favorite so far has been Donna. Donna is an adventurer and "no nonsense" gal on the series. Hence, I love this DVD set. I am excited I found it on ebay. I am after all, on a fixed income and ebay lets me find things I want for a price I can afford. I will be looking forward to the 5th series. I hope I am wrong about the 11th Dr.Read full review
Continuing on with the Saga, The Doctor gets a New Companion, and does more exciting adventures. Donna Noble is a great addition to the Cast! Someone that challenges and complements The Doctor. This Series or Season is the End of David Tennants reign as the Doctor, though, its not really the end. To see the actual End of his reign, you need to also get " The Complete Specials, that include " The End of Time" If you are Doctor Who fan, and have been engaged so far up to Season 3, and love this series, you are gonna love season 4. Donna adds a different twist to the series, in that they have someone that isn't a size 0, and very Barby Doll Cute. Donna is more of a normal woman, but can carry her weight in this series. I found it to be fantastic, and loved every episode, hence the reason for purchasing this entire series from season 1 to current. you'll Love this one!!Read full review
