The biggest challenge for this game was creating AI that could play like a poker player, taking all the different variables into consideration for each hand played. This game fails in that quest, particularly in the Omaha and stud games, where the AI players seem to think a pair of aces is an unbeatable hand. As far as Hold em goes, it's not too terrible, but the AI are ultra aggressive - for instance, it's definitely not unusual to see an AI pushing all-in on the river on the very first hand of a 3,000 person tournament. Another thing I dislike about the game is the speed. There are a few settings - I think 3 - for speed, and they're all very slow except for the last one, which is so fast you don't get any of the dialogue. Basically, if you have Internet access, you're better off playing ...

  • Great Poker

Although it is a good game to play poker for someone who already knows to play it, it is a hard game for the beginner, even at the easiest levels. Also, different poker variations can be played, but they are not enough explained. It would have been appreciated if they had put instructions on how to play those games. But overall, it remains a great game for poker fans.

  • PS2 WSOP '08 - Not so great.

Why I bought it: I love No-Limit Holdem Poker and I wanted to play against the professionals advertised in this game. What I liked most about this game: The game's AI sets traps like real players. What I disliked most about it: You have to play other forms of poker to move deeper into the game - like Razz, Stud, Draw, etc. - and most of these games are limit bet, i.e. - it takes a LONG time to get through them and into the No-Limit I enjoy.

  • Fun game.

Nice, easy, relaxing game to play when you have some down time. As of March 2012, there doesn't seem to be anyone playing this game over the PS2 network which is still operational.
