  • Jericho by Hubert Shuptrine, James Dickey, 1974

This is a beautiful book. Hubert Shuptrine is a great American watercolorist. He has a "feel" in his paintings for our beloved South. He has captured many scenes of old homeplaces that are fast becoming "extinct" today. He also did many wonderful "portraits" of everyday Southerners, both young and old. I have his later book, Home to Jericho, and decided to check on Ebay for this one. Both books have heavy paper and the colors are wonderful. I recommend this book for those who love the South and for those who love realistic water color paintings.

  • Jericho--The South Beheld

This is an incredible art book. As a teen, I would check it out from the library over and over again. I couldn't buy it then, it was just too expensive. I was so excited when I found it listed on eBay. It was like an old friend who had come back home. If you love the South, and all things southern, you will love this book. The art is fantastic and it will lure you back to a quieter, slower paced time. You will NOT regret this purchase!
