One of the best recordings of any band on dvd and then its RJD as a bonus ...as always he just gets better as the night rolls on and he starts well so your in for the full treat. This (if you like rainbow/dio) is as good as it gets without being there and of course now its a very memorable tribute to him too.

I bought this in one of those 'memory lane' moments people have now and again. I seen Dio live in Edinburgh when they had just released the 'Last in Line' album, and both that album and the ubiquitous 'Holy Diver' were never off my (now defunct) turntable. This gig has the Holy Diver album in it's entirety wedged between some classics from Dio's impressive portfolio.Rainbow's 'Tarot Woman', 'Gates of Babylon', 'Man on the silver Mountain' and 'Long Live Rock and Roll' make an appearance, alongside Black Sabbath's 'The Sign of the Southern Cross' and 'Heaven & Hell'. It doesn't say on the case but I think this concert may have been recorded in HD such is the quality of the picture. Every band member is on fire,(perhaps with the exception of the keyboard player who seems more interested in posing God-like for the cameras). Dio as usual displays how to rock while picking up your pension, the drummer & bass player thunder along impressively, but it's the guitar player (Doug Aldrich) who excels. He's one of those lucky guys who play like it's water off a duck's back at all times. When I saw Dio it was a guy called Vivian Cambell who played guitar and he was something else, so for Doug to step in and play just as well if not better, well that's some feat. If like me you loved 'Holy Diver' then I can't think of a better way to watch the whole thing unfold than this DVD, in the comfort of your living room with a couple of cold ones. Enjoy!!Read full review
Having followed Dio from his Rainbow days I bought the original Holy Diver album when it was first released in 1983. I was not disappointed as this album was superb from the first beat until the last! So in 2005 when it was announced that Dio was going to tour playing the album from start to finish I knew I had to own a copy as soon as possible. What did I like about the DVD...everything it is fantastic with everybody on stage delivering the goods. Dio voice is as good now as it was in 1976 when I first heard him. If you are a Dio fan and you havent bought this DVD then buy it now you will love it. Hard, heavy rock as it should be, from a sheer genius!
