A mental health counselor suggested I purchase this book because several of her patients had been helped by its insight. She asked me to let her know what I thought of it. By chapter 6, it had become the best book I've ever read about emotional healing, abuse, psychological damage. The authors keep it realistic and away from self-pity so the reader does not feel like they've been wronged, life is unfair and therefore the world owes them. Instead, it shows the role, how to heal and empathizes with the reader's experience without pity. I felt stronger instead of weaker as I completed each chapter. Another bonus is a summary of what was learned at the end of each chapter to keep the information fresh. Truly recommend it for everyone!
