The factory packaging inside the box included a spacer which protected the contents despite whatever happened to it! Really good buy for the price. The damage is mostly on the bottom of the box so cosmetically it still looks good on a shelf. I used a piece of cardboard from the shipping box to shore up the damaged part and don't have any concerns about long term durability.

It was packaged nice and snug in the box. Shipping was a joke, but that was not the sellers fault. They actually shipped the item right away. It made it to CA. In two days, but Fed Ex in CA. Is a joke. It took over 2 weeks to travel a little over 200 miles in CA. Again, this was Fed Ex fault, not the sellers. This did not bother me, since I was more interested in owning the game itself. Was shipped in a large box with plenty of protection and padding. The game contained all items and pieces that would come with the game under normal circumstances. If you want a collector's piece, the damaged box may not be for you, but if you just want a chance to own the new Hero Quest and play a fun game, this seller offers you more than your money's worth.
