Surflo Pump replaced a more complicated pump and is doing very well for me
The unit works very well and it is nice knowing that if it runs dry it won't eat it self up. we have replaced a few pumps will these and some have lasted more than 2 years. Parts are plentyful and can be updated or changed out in less than a half hour.. Not what it used to be
As a low cost pump these are just OK. Over the last 7 years or so Shurflo has done quality cutting by using aluminum wire and DC bodies. The DC bodies do not pair well with 120 volt systems causing the negative brush to wear out twice as fast as the positive brush. Life span is more than 50% less than with the older motor case. However, you get what you pay for and depending on the amount of use it might still be a good application for some.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

durable and reliable, to say the least!
These are awesome pumps. Mine is hooked up between my storage tank (on the roof) and bladderless pressure tank, which keeps the pump from running continuously. Once, I left my system operational to irrigate some plants while I was away and the pump ran dry for probably days when my tank- which provided water to the pump, leaked empty. When I encountered the situation I turned the pump off and felt the casing; it wasn't too hot to touch and when I ran water through it pumped like it was brand new! I have used these to pump drinking water for many years.
The weak spots of this item are the cover over the switch gets broken, or they get dropped on the silver end, breaking the plastic brush holder inside.
