Synopsis
The beloved best seller has been revised and expanded for the fifth edition. Jolene Brackey has a vision: that we will soon look beyond the challenges of Alzheimer's disease to focus more of our energies on creating moments of joy. When people have short-term memory loss, their lives are made up of moments. We are not able to create perfectly wonderful days for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, but we can create perfectly wonderful moments, moments that put a smile on their faces and a twinkle in their eyes. Five minutes later, they will not remember what we did or said, but the feeling that we left them with will linger. The new edition of Creating Moments of Joy is filled with more practical advice sprinkled with hope, encouragement, new stories, and generous helpings of humor. In this volume, Brackey reveals that our greatest teacher is having cared for and loved someone with Alzheimer's and that often what we have most to learn about is ourselves., The beloved best seller has been revised and expanded for the fifth edition. "Great insight"

For all of you who may have someone in their family suffering with Alzheimer's, I strongly recommend purchasing this book...I know everyone's situation is different, but this book will help you to understand the person and help to identify the different stages of this debilitating disease. If you are a caregiver (as I am) who is also a family member (as I am), this book is very informative and will help you to understand a person with Alzheimer's, how to deal with different times and situations that arise, and how to avoid burnout. This book is a good read as it will help you to adapt and respond to many types of situations..Well worth the cost for the knowledge gained. I have already recommended this book to a few friends who are in the same situation and they are glad that I did.

  • This book is going to be very useful as my husband and I go through this journey of his Alzheimer's diagnosis,

I am only 32 pages into this book and I already know it is going to be helpful in my role as a caregiver to my husband. I am already learning from reading it. We are on a journey together in this battle with Alzheimer's that we are not going to win. But we as a family can Create Moments of Joy for him and that is priceless. I am feeling grateful for this book.

  • Thoughtful ideas on coping with the dementia your loved one is dealing with.

One might feel it’d be a rather depressing book on dementia and granted dementia is a frustrating and terrible disease. But this book is an inspiring guide in how to navigate through it and be a thoughtful supporter to a loved one.
