A watch that gets in the way of itself
Everything seemed to work well. However, it would switch from one mode to another without my doing anything. As a golf watch it is marginal at best. It would switch from the golf mode to some other mode without my doing anything. If it remained on the golf mode, it would switch holes for no apparent reason. Feature rich and compact
As simply a Golf GPS band this is a worthwhile buy. The info is easy to read on screen in bright or cloudy conditions. The various measuring functions are easy to use and pretty intuitive once you've used it a few times. The Shot Tracker feature allows you to basically map all your shots and review them in the separate Garmin Golf app on your phone/tablet later. I used it today for the first time without reading any instructions and it basically recorded - accurately - just about every shot I took with a couple of exceptions which were more my problem and the course's (the course has 1 temporary and obviously un-mapped hole at the current time).So I can easily recommend this as simply a golf GPS device. Oh, also, when starting a round it has pretty quickly picked up my courses - usually less than 60 seconds. BUT, the other fitness tracker features all function perfectly also. It also receives call/text/email notifications and quickly paired with my phone with no problems. It's very light and comfortable to wear. So, a very wholehearted thumbs up for the X40. Amazing! Works better than Advertised!
The Garmin Connect and Garmin Golf install easily. Lots of info to put in. Some required most optional. Golf GPS is amazing. Used with Garmin Golf the band auto score keeps! After the hole simple select your score then select the number of putts. Then click hit fairway or missed. If missed then left or right. Quick and Slick only takes seconds to do this as you head to the next tee. After the round and at home you can see the round shot-by-shot. Input your clubs and expected distances and it will tell you how you did. The rest of the exercise and steps are accurate. You can adjust step length. Walking, running, biking all result in a a map with all types of data. The band also gives you notifications you specify, any app on your phone. The face is amazing in the sun/direct sun. Easy to see and Always-On. Oddly, at night inside with low light its more difficult. You can select back-light always but still in a TV room it's a bit tough to activate the back light and to see. The band, I have a 7.5 inch wrist and the small band barely fits. I am ordering the large band. The battery is well, adequate. The band is thicker than some non-golf bands but not ugly or uncomfortable. It looks at-home on my wrist.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good potential, but not the more accurate.
The first time I used the golf GPS, it did not recognised "correctly" the field I was playing on, so, when arrived home and sync, with my phone , everything was a messed shots were seen in another golf Field. Better the Fitbit

Shows green distance front, middle and rear. Shows front and carry distance for hazards, keeps score and handicap. Uploads shot tracking to connect app on phone.
