good value surge supressor
This is a 3 wire surge protector. It is rated for HVAC but is ideal for whole house supression in a house with a circuit breaker pannel (older style) that uses a comman bus bar for both nutral and ground wires. Newer pannels use separate nutral and ground bus bars the pannel so a 4 wire surge protector would be needed. The AG3000 easily installs in a knock-out hole on the side of the circuit breaker pannel and connects through a double circuit breaker that you need to purchase separately. The AG3000 has been independently rated as a best in class unit. but don't take my word on that... Go do your own research. When the unit is in opertation it has a bright green LED light that showes the unit is working. However virtually all surge protectors also have this feature. It seems to work
I had one for a few years and then the green light went out. Assuming it did it’s job, I bought another and in the process of installing it noticed the hot connection in my ac disconnect was shorting or arcing or something and the wire was burned.
