Based in the Forgotten Realms' Advanced Dungeons & Dragons universe, Baldur's Gate includes slightly modified second edition AD&D rules. The game features dynamic lighting, real-time environmental effects, six unique races, and 26 classes and subclasses. Players step into the role of an orphan who gets thrust into an adventure along the Sword Coast. Throughout the Sword Coast players will meet many non-player characters (NPCs) who can join their party. NPCs are not completely controlled by the player as they have their own beliefs and will often get into arguments with one another. Instead of playing with the computer characters, users can choose to play through the main story on a LAN or via the Internet with up to five other players.

    A Classic That Endured the Decades

    This is one of the best RPGs you are going to find. Lightning really struck with this game, as it came along right at the end of the AD&D/TSR era, and the second game ever produced by a studio hungry for its first major hit. If you can get a physical media copy of this gem, it's worth playing through once in your life if you game at all.
