These cards are easy to use and Linux compatible. Fit two drives in a mirrored configuration for extra safety. You can still use the array if one drive blows. You can still read the drive from a normal SATA connection if the card blows. You can replace the card if the card blows. You can move the drives and card to another motherboard if the motherboard blows. It really is the safest way to look after your live data. Obviously you should have an archive on a totally separate disk somewhere.

This item is an old RAID controller. I bought it to go into an old computer, to control two (new) discs in a RAID0 arrangement. I have been speeding a computer up as much as possible and this purchase was part of that. The old computer cannot run at the speeds a new card would run at, so a new card would have been a waste. Re-using a secondhand controller card was the best approach in this case. The card obviously comes with no instructions, but I had researched online and downloaded these. It installed easily and it was quick to setup the card in the settings screen. On booting up again I had a new RAID. A little configuring of Linux and the RAID was ready to use. This is not an item for a novice. However, if this card fits within your specific circumstances it is a good purchase. Delivery was superb. The card arrived the next day, far more quickly than anticipated.Read full review

This hardware is not a very young device, but it is properly for me. I could reach my aim with this device, so I'm very satisfied. I met with 2 problems, but after a firmware upgrade and when I'm found the user guide, I got answer for my question. I used this device with a linux system (Fedora 26).
