Asus RT-AC51U Brilliant VPN protection TV and Gaming Media Streamer
The Asus RT-AC51U Dual band Wireless AC750 Router is outstanding value for money for enabling VPN to anything that links to it including laptops, tablets, mobile phones and Full HD Internet TV streaming / games media devices. Connecting to a good VPN service will give you 99% buffering free TV and faster streaming. Setting Up the router is straight forward. Ditch your old modem; just connect your ISP Ethernet cable to the blue WLAN port and your Laptop Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 and you are good to go. The seller Planetshizzle has already set up the router but should you want to access the router admin page just type in the IP address info provided into your browser and then enter username and password and you are in to the routers configuration menu. I would not hesitate in buying this product again when I need to. The Asus router RT-AC51U and the seller both get 5 stars for product and service.

Simple plug and play with outstanding features
Bought this thinking it would be under adequate for my needs as a gamer and heavy internet user, thought it lacking features, I was so wrong on everything! Normally this would only take 5 minutes to setup, I was so wrong again, took me 15 minutes as it blew me away with features, I just had to check them all out. Features you only ever see on high priced routers. A true Plug and Play setup, the best I have seen, by far. This little box packs a punch with outstanding features at a very low price, features only seen on high end Linksys models and a like, call it a placebo effect if you like but since ditching the virgin box as a router I am now getting so much better through put than before. Speed tests are only as good as the device they are on and depending on the time of day they are performed, so they are little use in this review. Wifi is still the same range so no improvement there but there is the added bonus of having both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz running at the same time so all devices can connect, plus 5Ghz is better for getting around the interference of 2.4Ghz from neighbours, non of them have discovered 5Ghz yet! Little tip if you have to use 2.4Ghz put it on band 12 you'll be amazed at the better stronger coverage you get with very little signal overlap as all other routers are mainly configured from 1-11 only, and always overlap or conflict regardless of the auto feature. No issues gaming with this smart little box, has all the features you will need to set your gaming console for optimally game play and NAT for best through put. VOIP settings also included in these features plus more... Smart, neat, compact with a host of features, for a beginner or novice. Great router to use for Android tethering
If you dont have ADSL or cable connected at home then after updating the router software your able to connect an Android phone to the USB port of this router and tether as well as charge the phone. Why might that be important? Well we require that anyone with an Android phone can tether and connect to a wireless printer, Apple Time machine, Dlink 931 security cameras and Googlecast. Rather than configuring each device everytime to connect to different Android tethered phones this allows a level of indirection such that devices can be connected to use the routers wifi continuously allowing one to swap different tethering devices, or later connect to ADSL/Fiber. Really useful device. provides fast AC wifi bands so between devices really fast transmissions. The only down side is the USB2 port that has a maximum transmission speed of 12Mbps compared to transmission rates that modern 4G networks provide. However this setup offers better security and we dont really notice a drop in speed. We picked this new but end of life router up from Currys on eBay for a bargain price and we use BT's 4G network (part of EE/Orange/T-mobile) with 20Gb per month for 20 pounds.
