It did the job I required it for, but very akward to set it up for a Western Digital Ide Hard Drive. You have to move the power connection and hope it will connect, it would be easier if there were a set point already marked out for that purpose. You then have to move it back again for different make hard drives and that is not easy either. It is good for Sata drives and I would recommend it, especially if you need to save files from an old hard drive where you have a good partition but no more OS.

I needed something to swap HDD's about and put data on without having to keep plugging in hard drive caddies plus for it to be a simple setup like this. Upon arriving the docking station looks OK. But? It's cheaply made and feels cheap to the touch as well. After setting up the docking station and plugging in a HDD (I used an IDE drive since I have quite a few lying around) it powers up the drive and after clicking on the drive in Computer where all your drives are located it asks that you insert a disk. No matter what you do even though the disk drive is listed there's actually nothing there to do anything with. It won't allow you to format, open, explore but it will allow you to open properties to view the drive and how much space is there or been used. The disc with the drivers on and the instruction manual are about as useful as a piece of dog excrement that you've accidentally put your foot in. The manual tells you everything about the programs and what the docking station can do, but doesn't help you to get the station to work properly. The disc with the programs and drivers are on doesn't actually tell you what program is where on the disc but lists loads of files with incoherent titles which you then have to open ever folder to see what's in them and even then there still no way of knowing what in the files. It is easy to setup even though I've stated above it isn't but if it won't work from the off set then it isn't easy to use. If the docking station worked properly all you need to do is just pop a HDD drive in it and away you go.Read full review
