It's a good solid axe designed for log splitting with a couple of bumps on the cheeks of the blade. It needed a lot of sharpening before use but I expect that's normal - I'm no expert. It has a good solid poll at the top which works well with my short handled sledge hammer. Not a light axe- glad I didn't get a heavier one.

Impressive little splitting axe for a great price. Got this to supplement my splitting sledge for smaller diameter logs and splitting rounds for kindling. Both of which it handles well. The 'ramps' on the cheeks are symmetrical so a twist of the wrist might be needed for anything thick. It isn't a Bruks but is excellent quality for the money with a 3 year warranty thrown in. N.B. this is a splitting axe not a chopping axe it's supposed to be blunt.

How hard can it be , a lump of metal and a handle ? The handle on my old axe was a steel tube with rubber , a tricky repair with potentially risky consequences. I hate waste but in this case I decided to go new. For amazingly low cost this axe has a quality handle with a very nice grip a little longer than the old one and a formed head that greatly improves splitting ability. The flared sides exaggerate the split by pushing the wood wider and causing the break to happen sooner. It's a little heavier than my old one too and in practice means less effort is needed to bring it down on to the target. I am using it primarily for making kindlers but I am sure it is capable of splitting logs as well

Been looking for a splitting axe for a while, trying find a decent one, as I was using just ordinary axe/hatchet before for splitting kindling, which did ok, but kept getting stuck in the wood, this splitting/chopping axe is a game changer, it’s like a hot knife through butter.... great weight, good price, definitely recommend.cant understand the bad reviews.

Great little axe for the price... If you rally know how to chop wood you can can quite easily split 1 foot logs with this axe. After 1 session is feels sturdy and for the price is well worth it.
