Stanford grad Milo Hoffman (Ryan Phillippe) and his equally talented friend, Teddy (Yee Jee Tso), intend to form an Internet start-up and take the world by storm. That all changes when Milo is courted by deceptively friendly software magnate Gary Winston (Tim Robbins), the immensely wealthy head of world-dominating, Portland-based company, NURV. Milo takes the bait, leaving Teddy behind. Arriving in Portland to a NURV-provided house and car, with his girlfriend (Claire Forlani) in tow, Milo finds himself working on Winston's masterplan--software that will link the world's communications devices together. But it's not long before Milo begins to uncover disturbing evidence of Winston's unethical--and brutal--business tactics. When Winston's web of violence touches Milo's world, he joins forces with fellow NURV programmer, Lisa (Rachael Leigh Cook), and sets out to tell the world of Winston's reprehensible practices.<BR>Though obviously influenced by the practices of a certain Pacific Northwest-based software empire and its recognizable leader, Howard Franklin's (THE NAME OF THE ROSE) script is a snappy popcorn-muncher that manages to generate suspense even though it realizes its own excesses. Robbins, as evil geek Gary Winston, is obviously having a good time. ANTITRUST takes the conventions of the conspiracy film and adds a candy-colored millennial sheen.

    AN OLDIE BUT A GOODIE

    HAD THIS FILM ON VIDEO A FEW YEARS BACK, SO THOUGHT ID UPDATE IT, AS I THINK THIS FILM IS PRETTY GOOD, FOR A COMPUTER FLICK... ALL OF COURSE THANKS TO RYAN PHILLIPE! GOOD CAST IN GENERAL AS WELL... GOOD STORYLINE WITH HAPPY ENDING!

    Fast-paced, exciting and fun!

    I really enjoyed this film the first time I saw it on TV - a lovely blend of thriller and sci-fi, lots of tense moments, and plenty of computer-stuff. It's one of those really good films that doesn't come up very often on TV (can't think why not - they run and re-run loads of fairly mediocre ones but some films they only run once in a blue moon). This is one reason why I bought the DVD, as I knew it was one I'd want to see again and again.

    Anti Trust

    Oh dear not one of my better DVD's. This is OK if you are into computers & do not need to leave the room, or else you will lose the plot. Not a very good plot or come to that anything else. As I say not my cup of teae, but could be yours

    Anti-Trust DVD (2001)

    Superb film, Tim Robbins is superb as the geeky villain with an ego to match. Ryan Phillipe is great as the hero. Good storyline and well acted throughout. Fast paced and glossy, predictable ending where the underdog (Phillipe)wins in the end. Tim Robbins is made to look very simillar to a rather famous person in the computer industry (although He (Robbins) is about 9 - 10 inches taller). One of the best films I have ever seen. Watchable over and over again.
