Still a great Mac when fitted with a 6 Core CPU and a NVMe drive
Easy to upgrade the 2010 to the 6 Core 3.46Ghz CPU, no delidding required. Upgrade the Mac firmware to the late Mojave "144" version before installing the 6 core CPU. Install faster 1333Mhz RAM (PRAM reset required to get the faster RAM to be recognised after installing). The "144" firmware will also allow NVMe SSD booting with OSX 10.3.6 or later. Mojave or later should be installed on a SSD on a PCIe3 card or NVMe. Do not use a spinning hard disk. High Sierra best on a SSD or NVMe too, and can be HFS+ formatted if cloned from a spinning HDD. Metal capable GPU required to install the "144" firmware update - suggest a Mac flashed NVIDIA 680 2Gb. The Gigabyte Aorus RX580 4Gb and 8Gb are the only versions of the RX580 which will fit the GPU slot and not hit anything in slot 2. A 2x 6 pin mini PCIe to 8 pin PCIe power cable is needed for the Aorus RX580. Drivers included with HS 10.3.6 and later. Regards Nick
