Bought this to use in the caravan where my MacBook Pro dongle fails miserably. Reception isn't fantastic but with an O2 SIM I can manage to get onto the internet and stay on it. That's what I bought the iPad for, BUT I have since found just how useful it is and what a stunning display it has. It won't ever replace my MacBook Pro but it goes a long way to being a useful gadget to take away with me. It's even made my Kindle obsolete as the screen is better and I find it more user friendly, offering extra useful buttons and even displaying the title of the book at the top of the screen. I'm not a great user of iTunes so I haven't had much experience with this yet but so far I've had no problems. The iPad has no USB ports so I'm now investigating a couple of the WiFi printers that Apple recommend. I was a bit sceptical when I bought it but now I'm hooked. And everything (MacBook, iPad and iPhone) talks to each other so that's a bonus. Anyone want to buy a Kindle????Read full review
I bought this partly because of its size and partly because of its battery life. I had a laptop but the battery life was only about 1.5 hours which seemed pathetic. I am used to Apple computers but not to pcs so I had trouble using the laptop. I took to the ipad very quickly. I find it much more usable than a laptop and I find it handy that I can transfer information between my iMac and the ipad. I find it a nuisance that I can only have 1 window open at a time which means that I lose my login if I change websites. I also miss the history function which is on the iMac which means I cannot readily return to a website that I have been using recently unless it has been bookmarked I bought a wireless keypad which makes the ipad more usable. It also takes the ipad for storage meaning that the exposed surfaces are aluminium when the ipad and keyboard are fitted together for storage.Read full review
I have a Samsung Tab 7.0 plus, but my kids - 4 & 1 year old - always wanted to use it so i decided to try out the new Ipad- 1. like the bigger screen but since i don't game i am not feeling the Retina feature being touted . 2. the security features seem better though can be a bit of a chore, my Samsung allowed my kids allowed my kids to download all kinds of games without requiring a password (of course its possible i didn't know how to set up the password feature which came automatically with the Ipad) 3. I prefer the play store to Itunes, significantly more free downloads & the free downloads eg Angrybird Rio from Play store had more features than the one from Itunes. So hands down Android is better for free. 4. I bought quite a few accessories from ebay which were significantly cheaper than at the shops & on other online stores like amazon. 5. I use my dell Xps laptop alot so the iPad is just an accessory when i don't want to carry the big bulky machine about like in the can. 5. Sadly my kids also like the big screen and compete for its use but because the free games downloaded aren't as good as that on our Samsung they leave me after a while as the games & other downloads on Android is better. 6. I am not particularly iimpressed with the 3g feature, i seems very hungry so i use wifi mostly 7. Not a bad buy as its my first trip into Apple land, i am thinking of getting the Iphone 5 next year to see if i can work with Apple, i am only 70% satisfied with Apple so farRead full review
Bought the iPad as I am starting a new job in September where they use iPads in my school with the pupils. It is compact, easy to set up and use. Touch/swipe screen responds easily to finger touch or with a stylus (recommended for some of the games). Downloads are great from Apps Store. Wi-fi facility brilliant. Took it away for weekend to stay in touch with family - used hotel Wi-fi password and used it in room and reception with no problems. Great value for money. Screen resolution first class. Best buy on Ebay this year!
Happy with my purchase, it's obviously a 3rd generation I pad but good value for money! Not sure about the battery life as it still runs down when using it with the charger plugged in ! But this may be the way with 3rd gen iPads!
