Still a good watch even after all these years. I first saw it during the Summer of 1966 with my brother and my dad. It's a little clunky in places, but still engaging if somewhat fanciful with the truth. Glad I bought it though. Bit of a nostalgic treat.

This starts well but rapidly falls into cliche and fantasy as it progresses. It's reasonably entertaining, but the gung ho distortions and playing with historical facts doesn't quite come off. The phoney Tiger II tanks were unconvincing, and surely they never motored along at a mere 5 mph.as they advanced upon the American positions? And what was the point of capturing an American fuel depot when the Tigers ran on diesel and most oi the American tanks and AFVs ran on petrol? The exploding petrol drums in the final scene were totally unrealistic. However, it is worth seeing for one memorable scene and that is the one in which Robert Shaw as Colonel Hessler reviews his panzer commanders commenting that there are "Too many boys...", when they suddenly break into singing the 'Panzerlied'. Had the film continued on that level it would have been great.Read full review

Great film. A true war movie classic. The Long version of the film is only long as half way through there is an 'intermission' just like back in the day. When the projectionist had to change the reels at the flicks. A quick fast forward skips past this. There is (as far I could tell) no extra footage or bits that ended on the cutting room floor. So it's not like a director's cut or special edition or anything similar.
