This was our book club`s choice otherwise I wouldn`t have finished it. The first chapters are littered with bracketed translations of Indian words--very distracting.Too many chapters where little happens then the important parts of the plot are dealt with in a few paragraphs. I loved "The Tea Planters Wife" but this book and "The Silk Merchant`s Daughter" are nowhere near as well written.I just found this book tedious.
