I really enjoyed this broadway version of billy elliot ever since I streamed it online and after my first watch I knew I had to buy. the choreography and singing and basically just everything about this film is straight up my street when it comes musicals. elliot hannah the boy who plays billy elliot is amazing to watch with his amazing dance moves and singing. even the tough back miners had a few bally dancing moves on the go. you will be laughing, crying and cheering along with this amazing production which is of course contributed by the one and only Elton John. but all in all it is so worth to buy and definitely watch.

I recently watched this on satellite TV and absolutely loved it. The representation of children from a working class background was well conceived. Most parents might want to shield their little darlings from the harsh reality of street language, but they learn worse in school. The quadruple threat of Mr Braithwaite was unexpected and refreshing, proving a nuanced creative eye had some quality control over the production. The family dynamic with Billy's grandmother showed that, in spite of the rough and tough background, there was love in Billy's care of her. This isn't Oliver!; it isn't a book that has been dumbed down to achieve acceptance for a larger audience in cinemas. It's a slice of life, taken from the heart of the miner's strike, the repercussions of which still have a knock on effect on towns and villagers where mining was an essential part of the local economy. Yes, it's gritty but that adds to the realism.Read full review
