    Steering angle sensor upgrade.

    I installed this upgrade in about half an hour which resolved a potentialy expense repair from BMW for my X5 E53 2003. The problem occurs because of warn electrical contact brushes (see attached picture) witin the steering angle sensor mounted on the steering column inside the vehicle. Please be aware that you MUST remount the colum as it was before marking the splined shaft before removal. Good mechanical understanding is required along with good common sense or you can loose control of your steering because the splined shaft has not been remounted correctly. You can see that this upgrade will function for many years/miles/km because the brushes are much more robust than the original part. I would recommend upgrading your existing sensor instead of buying a second hand unit as this could ...

    Fix don't replace

    Replaced the contact piece of the SAS in my E83 X3 - '09 - and was 1/3 the cost over a unit sensor. Would absolutely recommend doing, even if removal was a hassle. It did need reinitialized or reset to 0 degree with a capable scan tool. Once that was done, all 3 warning lights (4x4, SRS, Brake) were cleared.

    Quality upgrade and super value.

    Upgrade repair kit that is better than OEM and a LOT cheaper than purchasing an OEM steering angle sensor. Bonus - once complete, the SAS does not need to be coded to the car. Used for 2006 BMW X5 3.0 with 180,000 miles.
