Versatile DI box for live PA and personal monitor on stage
I wanted this for clean tones from electric guitars to feed direct into PA system with parallel out for personal monitor. Connectivity is just right - balanced XLR (with ground lift option) for PA, jack for personal monitor. No power supply provided, so I plug in my own quality 9volt power supply, not tried batteries yet, and don't need to. So far I have tested it on full range quality studio monitors via mixing desk. For clean I am using TWEED amp setting, and CLEAN mod setting. I vary the MIC placement to give the desired character. The unit seems to give a basic speaker simulation by rolling off some the unpleasant and unwanted very high frequencies that a full range PA would otherwise project. For clean I set DRIVE to left or very nearly full left (i.e. very low amount of drive) and LEVEL midway. Any more than this and it starts to go into overdrive sounds which is not my objective. (I am not reviewing overdrive sounds). The only slight drawback for clean is that there is a small noticeable background hiss which is just acceptable depending on how fussy you are. Hence only 4 stars. (I suspect on overdrive sounds this becomes negligible). If you want to you can use your own effects units before the box to give you exactly the sound you want and then simply use the box in bypass mode and benefit from the connectivity to PA and monitor, in this case the box does not colour the sound at all.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
