A fascinating mysteries set in lovely Giverny and lots of interest for Impressionist lovers. But I don't like the way it is written and some of it is difficult to understand - perhaps things got lost in translation? I am 1/2 way through and will carry on because I want to know the mystery surrounding the Black Water Lillies and the murders, but I don't think I will read another of the author.

Brillliant book in its concept, keeps the reader engrossed (but confused) throughout; with a denoument with more twists than a corkscrew. Beautifully written and superbly translated. Compelling stuff - read it!

This novel would appeal to art lovers who like a murder mystery. Set in France, there are obviously a lot of French street names, buildings etc. This could be challenging for some readers. The plot of the book was quite involved. I personally don't think it was as gripping as the reviews would have us believe. It is however, well written and atmospheric and set in Monet's lily pond area.

A brilliant read, if you have been to Giverny it brings you back to that lovely village,if you haven't go there. The story kept you guessing almost to the end, surprise surprise, explained and ended satisfactorily, a must

One of the best books I have read in a long time, I loved it from start to finish. Even prepared to forgive the odd cliché and the (very) unlikely ending!
