This printer, like many ink jets eat ink!!! The print quality is good, colors are OK but I'm glad I have a laser printer (B&W) for the majority of printing. Before you buy an ink jet, price cartridges so you'll know what it costs to print a page.

The used alignment strip for my HP Officejet 6500 E709a printer arrived looking great. It was harder to install than shown on YouTube however and the printer doesn't recognize it for some reason (it is correctly installed) and will not print. I am currently looking into how to re-set up the printer on the software side with the hope that the reboot will re-calibrate the strip with the rest of the printer. Any suggestions on possible solutions are appreciated.

Bought ca 2015 brand new at Best BUy for about $175.00 on sale from about $225. I loved it. The print quality is very good, most of the time, and it prints faster than any inkjet I have ever used. However, the wifi constantly had to be reset, even between printings. I could never count on it if I was in a hurry. I had it serviced and it still has that problem. I actually bought a 2nd one, just like it and had the same problem. It does not print on true card stock, which was my biggest problem because I am a paper crafter. But if you use a cord to connect to your computer and the printer....it works fine. Just don't count on the wifi. For $175, it was a good deal (except for the wifi problem.). The document copy feature is excellent. I actually like the features much better on this model than on the later model (8720) that I finally upgraded to.Read full review

As a scanner, photo or document, it's pretty fast. Easy to isolate images, but not always as simple to "setup" your document scanning preferences. It doesn't really work with more than one size being fed through in one project. Doesn't like it very much. Causes glitches, so for now, will stick to one size of page per project scan. Works great for multiple page photo scans. Fast and easy to setup, although I still feel it necessary to make a printer come with ALL of the necessary cables, rather than have you buy the USB separately. Ink cartridges really need improvement. Stock off the shelf gives you only a "starter" cartridge set and for the average retail price, it really could use a full cartridge set. Not a price I'm willing to pay retail for which is why I try to find a deal anywhere I can. I already had the 5600 series unit which I love but have similar conflicts when HP decided to provide an "updated" software version for the Document Viewer. The HP Solutions doesn't integrate several printers or devices to work well together within the same software. You really have to separate the devices into using separate software for each at times. Decided to get this upgraded unit as a gift to someone who needed something for multi-purpose use and it really made it simple for them to load and use within minutes. Can't complain too much if it served the purpose I meant it to, but still, I wonder when HP will learn that not everyone uses just one device for projects and needs to network several as one overall setup and for a lower price. Function though for the price I would say is Mediocre. Has it's glitches but overall is good. For under $100 I'd buy it for myself and deal with the complications. They're nothing I can't handle or learn to deal with.Read full review
Pros. Price; quality of printing; printing speed Cons: When you decide to print and press the "print" command it takes forever to get its heart started or whatever it is doing to get ready to print. like 30/45 sec. then 5 sec to print the page, its laughable. The auto 2 sided printing is nice but be prepared for a long wait while the ink "dries" before printing on the second side of the sheet. Noisy too, but no biggie. The "starter" ink cart. are HPs solution to prevent outcry over not supplying any ink at all, they are at least something, get ready to go shopping for real cart. soon after using. The installation CD froze up and I had to use customer support in India to install the drivers which took about an hour, it is a slow process but he was knowledgable and it works as it should. I have not tried the wireless or fax features yet. I wanted individual ink cart. and the other features in this printer at a reasonable price. This fits the billRead full review
