I bought the Cannon S430 Ixus because my Nikon 880 just died I had left it in the sunshire - my own fault! I have used the Cannon in the course of my work as with many other cameras and always found myself going back to the Cannon Ixus when I just needed a good camera that was straight forward and relable. The 430 model also gave me the sort of max pixels needed for down loading to ebay etc set on basic setting, its been sxcellent the only problem I have found which has not been a set back for me! is that on several Ixus I have used they all seem to take a few seconds from taking one shot to when it ready to shoot the next shot -if your waiting for it to 'be ready' a few seconds can seem a lot longer -but all together The Cannon Ixus 400 430 and 500 I have found to be A1 for general photography , The ones we use at work are dented and well knocked about but they seem to still work! But they are a pleasure to own when they are in nice condition.Read full review
Screen was smaller than expected, only takes proper camera memory cards unlike SD cards which is what I was expecting to use, the one I brought had lines running down the screen so I'm unsure of the acctual scren quality, I would reccommend as a starter camera as it takes decent photos and doesn't use batteries, but I;'m more up to date so I brought a 13.6mp one instead.
I love this camera, i bought it because i already own the same and have had it for 4 years and i just wanted to have it as a backup. I am comfortable with canon and as the memory card is compatable with my canon eos its very convenient to share memory. I have no real criticism on this model.
