This is an excellent lens that I use for videography as it has built in stabilisation and that coupled with the camera’s means that panning, zooming and moving is possible. The AF works well, the pictures are clear and sharp so all in all great value.

It is relatively small, not pancake, but small enough to avoid too much attention. It is light, even lighter than the size would suggest. Easy to carry. The hood is quite large. With other lenses I usually put the hood on and leave the cap off, but if I want to be unnoticed I might go for the cap with this one. Image quality is exceptional, even f/2 is very good. Sharpness is consistent throughout the image frame, no issues in the corners. There is no ghosting or aberrations wide open. Minimum focus distance is better than average. Image stabilization makes it good for video. It usually doesn't make a difference for stills.

This lens is really solid, is not too big and feels perfect on a full frame camera. The images it produces are sharp and at f/2 it is capable of some lovely bokeh. The IS is extremely useful and works as well as any IS I've used from Canon. It would work well as a walk around lens, though personally I prefer the 50mm focal length on full frame as a walk around. I bought this lens for some events I was covering where I needed to do some group portraits in low light and my 50mm wasn't wide enough and my 16-35 was too slow. I have to admit I have already dropped this lens, but only on carpet, and it was fine so its sturdy feel certainly seems to apply to the internals too. This is my first 35mm prime so I can't compare to others, but I like the size being smaller than a f/1.4, however it could be smaller and I wouldn't mind. It is a beefy lens that bulges out from the mount and so it feels nice in the hand and on the camera, but doesn't protrude out too much so as to feel unbalanced. Overall I thoroughly recommend this lens to those looking for a 35mm prime. TLDR; Image quality 9/10, Built quality 9/10, IS 10/10, Look and feel 10/10, Manual focus ring 9/10 (bit stiff at the start but overall smooth and accurate), Size 8/10.Read full review

I use it on a crop sensor camera for fishing self portraits most of the time. The images are pin sharp and it focuses very quickly.
