Ive bought at least 30 [2-amp] usb car chargers in the past and with all of them its been one of these problems - the fuses pop - charging quality degrades - or it gets too hot when in all day and stops working. Although this is one of the highest rated usb cargers when i 1st saw the pricing for this item at 9 pound i laughed . But then i thought about how much i spent altogether on different ones that all at the end seem to break/fail . Ive used this Anker USB Car charger for 13-15 hours at a time for 5-6 days in a row whilst on road for over a month . It has yet to show any signs of slowing down and with it charging 2 devices (Note 3 and TomTom) both at full speeds (Tested & Confirmed) and not even warming up compared to old ones i had that used to be piping hot i hardly doubt this product will give up and want to be recycled any time soon . Good Job Anker . The £9 is well worth it . If your living is made via driving - and your sick of your car usb charger popping, breaking or failing - Trust me - Get this . Again - Good Job Anker ! A+ !Read full review

I needed this to use with my navigator and simultaneously charge an iPhone. The cheap ones I had bought in a market stall either did not charge well or overheated so I looked for one with higher amperage. This fit the bill but on using I found that when used for both the iPhone and navigator it's charge is too low to recharge the navigator. Still, at least it does not overheat.

Yes, it does work and does charge a phone. After years of buying basic cigarette lighter socket chargers from eBay and on a recent trip where I was driving for 5-6 hours only to find my phone was only doing an absolute trickle charge and couldn't keep up if I was using it as a satnav - I went for one of these. As a simple test and I plugged the phone into charge (with an Anker cable) and drove for about 30 minutes with the result the battery charge went from 60% to 68% which was much more than I expected. So I am well happy and can't wait to test it out on a longer trip just to see that it will actually fully charge the phone (which is a Vodafone Smart V8) by the time I reach my destination. So far, yes I would recommend this charger and am considering buying a 2nd for our other car and for my wife's iPhone SE,Read full review

As soon as you unpack this charger from its box there is a feeling of quality. The charger is made from very good quality plastics and well designed. That is just the exterior, hopefully as much thought and care has gone into the electronics. Ours worked straight out of the box but has only been in use for a few days. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? This unit works in all 12 volt sockets I've tried it in except the cigar lighter socket in an 18 year old BMW 5-series that I use regularly. The BMW socket is a common pattern in older cars that had sockets designed to take lighter units. The problem is simply that the diameter of the plastic body surrounding the tip of the unit is too wide to allow the tip to make contact. Otherwise seems to be a great little product.

This charger costs a little more than others, but its worth every penny. Its made from premium quality plastics and good fitting electrical connectors. You can tell it has some design thought put into it, everything fits nicely together edges are uniform, even the box it came in and the product leaflets are well designed ! I bought this because my cheaper chargers all failed over time and I just wanted to spend a little more on a quality product, I'm not disappointed and will now buy more Anker products. Incidentally, the 'Anker' brand was set up by some ex 'Google' employees and claims to be America's leading mobile brand.
