Protects and softens all natural hide leather on application by rubbing in. Main point is that it is an aid to keeping leather water-resistant and avoid drying out.. Suitable for all sports, country, working footwear and leather goods. Just remember that ONLY use dubbin where polish shiny finish not needed and where, alternatively, any quality shoe polish itself will contain oils and, used frequently, help preserve leather.

Bought for a new pair of walking boots as I have used cherry Blossom brand shoe polish for years However this isn't like any dubbin I have used before. This is a beige tinged translucent wax (think hair wax) which feels greasy, which is very different to the original dubbin which was thicker and creamier texture, and which worked in the leather well. This is odd, and stays smeary even when used in warm conditions. I'd say it's probably ok for sports shoes (as it says on the tin), but for walking boots or any smooth leather boot/shoe I'll go back to the traditional stuff as the results are much better, and in truth it's a bigger tub and only slightly dearer than this. Sorry Cherry Blossom!

Very easy to put on my new boots I did try a number of different brands but I have decided this is really good value for money and a lot easier to use

Very pleased with this traditional dubbin. Softens the leather, waterproofs, gives it a decent appearance too. So many leather products do badly for not having dubbin or polish applied to them but never heard of anything being damaged with too much of the stuff. My boots, saddlebag, belts and even leather furniture all get a regular (very thin) application of this and all are soft, shiny and look almost as good as new.

Why do we buy Dubbin? If you've bought it you know the reason. For all those "Waterproof" boots and shoes that turn out not to be. Don't buy another pair of boots, buy this. Easy to apply, work well into the stitching and the welts (where the sole meets the upper), around the tongue and work well into the lace area. Do this once a week at least to stop your feet getting wet ever again. Apply daily if walking in very wet conditions or walking across wetland and marshes for a protracted period. This and your brushes will weigh less than 500 grams. Well worth the effort of carrying in your Bergen when conditions get wet.
