Reading Fighting Fantasy again was a great nostalgia trip and Creature of Havoc is probably on of the best in the series. It was actually really difficult to complete and I needed to find a couple of pointers online. The only criticism I have of FF is that you often get killed for investigating something. Situations often follow this formula: "You hear a mysterious noise around the corner. Do you investigate or ignore it and walk on?" You investigate and the next passage goes something like "The strange noise belongs to a terrible monster and it kills you where you stand. Your adventure ends here." The joy of fantasy stories is investigating the world the author has created, not skimming through and never looking around. This is a criticism of FF in general however and not this book.
