I first heard the song Thinking Over, on the soundtrack of raising helen and ov loved that film for a long time, and loved the song. I'd been trying to find it for a while, i didnt realise that this album also had the song from shrek which my little sister loves. The entire album is brilliant and Dana Glover in my opinion is officially one of the top artists in the business.
I like to hear new or different solo Artists from time to time as opposed to Groups or Bands,it helps to get the individuality from the Singer in person, the true sound of His or Her voice and help to decide whether I really do want to buy this Album, and as it happened I like it and I also bought it and glad I did,There are not enough Solo Female Artists out there,so well done To Dana Glover
A well produced and polished release, which may actually detract from mass airplay...a shame as there are a few good songs on this such as the US hit "Rain" and "Almost had It All". However, this is more a crossover white gospel meets Robyne Dunne (australian singer songwriter) and Tori Amos...if described as a book genre it would definately be "chicklit"! Great to dip into once in awhile but never going to be a classic or inspiational piece in the same ilk of Carole Kings "Tapestry". That said, the additional tracks on the Uk release certainly make it interesting purchase as one sounds like the ambient band "Conjure One" while the other is reminiscient of the irish / norwegian combo "Secret Garden".
