The Deda Elementi 215 handlebar is a relic of the days when people wanted light alloy bars and were less obsessed by rigidity. These bars could be a problem if you were Mark Cavendish and needed to do some extreme sprinting but most of us aren't and don't. Carbon can provide the rigidity and the light weight but at a cost. The other advantage of alloy is that it probably survives minor knocks both on the road and in storage or transit better. The smallest 215 weighs about 215 grams and if I recall correctly mine are around 225. You can't buy new now (apart from old stock) so it is hard to put a price on them - probably around £20 secondhand. They are a good shape for fast touring, which is what I will use them for - lovely and slim with grooves for brake and gear cables and a little bi flexible. The great thing with the 26mm centre is that you can pad out your bar tape with old tape or silicon implants and end up with a very smooth ride.Read full review
