About this product

Product Information

In 1883 the Doctor takes Ace to a house called Gabriel Chase in her home town of Perivale. Josiah Samuel Smith lives in the house but he turns out to be the evolved form of an alien who was brought to Earth in a stone spaceship which is in the basement of the house. Another member of the house is Redvers Fenn-Cooper who is out of his mind with what he has seen but Smith wants his help in killing Queen Victoria and restoring the British Empire to its former glory. Ace releases the spaceship's true owner - a powerful alien known as Light - who originally came to Earth to compile a catalogue of its species. This was the final 'Doctor Who' story to be made even though it was shown second in the final series.

  • Edited into a confusing mess

Watching the extras we find out that this story should have been an episode longer and boy does it show. I have rewatched it twice recently and am no closer to understanding what it is about (the writer even admits in the extras that elements were not explained sufficiently). The extra episode would have helped and perhaps reading the book would have been a better bet. Many fans put this story in their top ten ever, but I am totally bemused by that, for the reasons above. For me it is a bottom 20 story and a wasted opportunity.

  • About as bad as the rest of Mccoy

Not very good. The story is OK, but McCoy just does not work as the Doc, too eccentric and manic. And Aldridge is terrible, she just cannot act. Even by the standards of companions she is wooden. It might have worked with Baker (T) or maybe Pat (Och Dr that Wee monkey man).

  • Dr who Ghostlight

Great episode. I hadn’t watched it in a few years, so it was good to see it again. And it had an interesting plotline. Think it’s one of my favourite Dr Who episodes

  • Just right to keep you glued to the small screen,DR WHO and his companion.

This is yet another way of trying to recapture memories that I have lost, also I have followed DR WHO as much as I can over the years.

  • Nostalgic value

Very good value for money. Nostalgic entertainment.
