  • Memorable - good extra features too

A brilliant Doctor Who classic of the 1960s from start to finish; made all the more remarkable due to some improvisation in several points of the story. Ten out of ten.

  • Mind Robber Classic

i was so glad that BBC released this as it is one of my favourite Doctor Who stories, it brings lots of childrens classics like Rapunzel,Gulliver,D'Artaganan and Sir Lancelot to life but gives them strange twists when fighting Solider Robot guards, also a classic is when Frazer Hines (Jamie) goes on holiday halfway through the story rather than not show him as most early 60's stories did they had him replaced by another actor, and the way they did it was good and brought Frazer Back and lo and behold he's the proper Jamie again, one of Patricks Finer performances as the doctor, also has some great extras the usual commentaries, making of The Mind Robber and my favourite the Basil Brush sketch from 1975 featuring the yeti.

  • A Troughton title well recommended

Patrick Troughton has so many missing stories (wiped by the BBC in the early 70s so we'll never see them again) that it's nice to see one that is very indicative of the creativity that the show had in his day. This story comes from his last season and sees him/Zoe and Jamie whisked off to the land of fiction. My favourite part is that Frazer Hines (Jamie) fell ill during production and had to miss an episode, so they recast him for that episode with stand in actor Hamish Wilson and the way they bring him in and out of the story is pure genius. The special features cover the creation/making of the story, have a feature on Jamie's character, and there's a Basil Brush sketch (with Mr Roy) and a Yeti - costume from Web of Fear. Buy this DVD is the cheap range, and ...

  • One of the best series of the black and white Doctor Who years

I really enjoyed this series. It's short, sharp and engaging and gets away from the usual trapped-in-a-base-by-aliens plot of the Patrick Troughton era. I guess the BBC had a bit more money to spend on the sets and locations, this helps as well, and there are more than the usual number of characters as well. A clever plot twist covers for a week when Frazer Hines was ill. Any Doctor Who enthusiast will enjoy this.
