How ironic that Annie Lennox was writing such dark and moody songs calling them Sweet Dreams 25 years ago and now write saccharine, soulless stuff calling it Songs of Mass Destruction. This is when their experimental, innovative and maybe a little self-indulgent sound started selling, before they became a household name and began making safer and more commercial (but equally enjoyable) stuff. I already owned the Greatest Hits, but there are only 2 singles on this album (this is no Thriller, that's for sure), the other 8 tracks are all worth a listen, especially the 6m40s masterpiece at the end, This City Never Sleeps, which, if memory serves, was used in the abysmal '9 1/2 Weeks' film soundtrack.
