A lot of knitting books tend to be paperback so don’t stand up too well to being tucked into a knitting book. This book is in hardback format so will withstand a lot of use without looking tatty - if that’s important to you. There’s something about how this book is presented that looks very dated - which isn’t a problem if retro is your thing. If you’re after something more ‘modern’ then this book probably isn’t for you. Although this book has ‘Easy’ in the title, the book shows some fairly detailed toys on the cover and because of this I was expecting more from it. Most of the patterns look nothing like those on the cover, are ridiculously simple and barely look like the animals they’re supposed to be. This is definitely a book aimed at beginners or those wanting quick, easy projects and have low expectations for the finished result. The books DOES have three more substantial patterns at the back for the elephant, hippo and snake on the cover. I bought this book for the elephant pattern so, for this reason, the book isn’t a complete disappointment for me. In hindsight I wouldn’t have bought it though and I wouldn’t recommend it - except to perhaps a complete newbie to knitting.Read full review
