Can be an excellent value...but
So my 2001 Volvo S60 2.4 base/automatic transmission, was exhibiting all of the symptoms of a bad ETM. I found this kit online, and watched a number of videos how how to install it. I am a former professional auto repair technician, so I went ahead and ordered it. The packaging and shipping were excellent. The quality of the kit is also excellent. The directions are not good, but if you watch the videos, you can follow along. (I was tempted to rewrite the instructions and send it back to them, but thought better of it as I was concerned about copyright issues or something). If you are able to install the kit properly, it will work as advertised, so overall it can be an excellent value. However in my opinion, it's not for the average backyard mechanic unless you rate your skills as ... Warning NEEDS CALIBRATION
Installed part exactly as instructions described and car ran worse than before. Upon further digging there is a tedious calibration procedure that you need to do to get the magnet lined up right on the shaft that the directions made no mention about. Returned the part. Everything you need to do the job!
While my problem was not with this part in my case the repair went smoothly. The kit contains everything you need to do the job even a new gasket. I learned a lot watching videos on YouTube and recommend that you take out the fan to get more room to work, I can't imagine how hard it would be to replace the bolts without doing it. The extra cost of the kit was offset by the gasket and thumb drive but if you don't need them another auction might be a better fit for you. Shipping was fast . A good buy if you need it. My problem was with with a bad coil pack but the code indicated the throttle position sensor as the culprit for the rough running engine. I figure that the cost of having the sensor checked at a mechanic or dealer would pay for the part so no big deal I just fixed a problem that ... Nice DIY ETM Upgrade Kit
This kit has everything you need to upgrade your ETM. The inclusion of a replacement lid is great because you're going to bend the sh*t out of the original. If you take your time and follow the instructions you'll have your ETM upgraded to a contactless throttle body position sensor quickly and for much less than buying a new or re-built ETM. No re-programming required. This is a quality upgrade kit.This kit has everything you need to upgrade your ETM. Hi, This Kit offers You a solution to many throttle Body problems. My car was surging ,eradic Idle, Hunting, and other issues as well. Doing away with the contact system and going to magnetic solved everything and gave Me way more power and all driving a pleasure. Thanks guys, Steve
