    One of my “Favourites”

I watched the film often when it was on one of the streaming platforms. Now it’s largely unavailable so I decided to buy the DVD. It’s an adaptation of the real life story of Queen Anne, the last Stuart monarch of Britain. The costumes are sumptuous which makes up for any liberties taken with the narrative. Olivia Coleman as the ailing Queen is a delight

    Disappointing rubbish

Disappointing film. The main thread of film is to explore the relationship between the 3 women of that time, namely Queen Anne, Sarah Duchess of Marlborough and Abigail Hill. This was achieved but in a puerile and silly way. If the film was meant to be a comedy it failed. The characters had no depth but came across as spiteful, jealous and air headed when in fact the opposite was true in reality. It is true that Queen Anne enjoyed the company of women more than men but there is no evidence at all to suggest that she was a lesbian. • Terrible

One of the worst films I have had to suffer in a long time. Boring plot, actors are either whispering or shouting, and the soundtrack is abysmal. Very second rate.
