I got this from eBay for a decent price-it’s excellent and sounds far better than any of my iPods tbh.It also powers my Sony MDR-100aap headphones really well without the need for my fiio headphone amp that I had to use with my iPod nano etc —I downloaded a user manual from the internet to help me understand the various settings and buttons better -I’ve been putting a mixture of FLAC/MP3/mp4 aac files on this and the sound especially with the FLAC files is stunning-some of my FLAC flies show on screen with the relevant artwork and some don’t -I just need to find a way to tweak this -the equaliser is good as well with various settings pop/jazz/rock/classical/off/and one custom setting where I’ve just basically turned it all up to maximum settings and used my volume control to set the levels for the various albums I have -it came with a 16GB micro card which I will fill later with various mp4 aac albums from my MacBook iTunes -you can plug the fiio x1 straight into your laptop and drag & drop files/albums straight onto it but I’ll maybe just put my micro card with an adaptor straight into my MacBook card slot and work it from there -anyway just need to play about with it a bit more to discover what else it does -but all in all I’d recommend this player for anyone who has used iPods etc and been a bit disappointed with the sound and the bonus is being able to keep your music on various micro cards and not lose it -unlike when my iPod 160GB Classic bit the dust together with 120GB of music which I thankfully had backups of on iTunes and two external hard drives.Anyway off to listen to some sounds now -cheers 🎧😬Read full review

Even for an older gadget geek like me a doddle to use, lots of nice features. Superb quality sound , various screen colour choices lots of ways of selecting your music. I have even downloaded a couple of 32 bit songs and the quality is immense. I was so happy with the Fiio I took it to show the lads in work and let them hear some tunes, one of my colleagues purchased one that night such was impression it mad on him. Excellent price and 1st class service.

For the amount of money it costs it's a brilliant product. I am very happy with the Audio quality and the stylish look of the machine. The menu system is OK, the equalizer could be better, but they don't spoil the enjoyment. I use it with good Monster DNA headphones every day, on my way to work, and I highly recommend the FIIO X1.

The sound quality is impressive. I am hearing things in my music that can normally only be heard through my high end hifi equipment. Through the headphone output the sound is quite bassy, but this is good because it cuts through traffic noise whilst walking. Switching to line out gives a purer sound, and I run this through a Topping NX1a headphone amplifier. The controls are intuitive, I particularly like the feedback from the jog wheel, which is the quickest way to scroll through the music library. The champagne colour is gorgeous, and the overall finish is very good. There is a screen protector fitted from the factory. I paired the player with a tuff luv case, but it comes with a silicone case as standard, although this doesn't protect the front of the player. I recommend this item for sound quality, price, and build quality.Read full review
