Famous transfer from the novel, filmed by Columbia with all the expertise of that studio. Stark and disturbing view of pre-second world war of soldiers tensed up in the brutal training, of what was to come. Sinatra proved he could dismiss the Musicals he appeared in with a powerful performance. Kerr, out of character did the same.Blu Ray quality is excellent, better than the DVD. The so called famous beach scene is so tame even at the time.Could not see what all the fuss was about. There was no indication of the so called sex scene apart from a clinch.Perhaps it's been cut. Anyway, a great film to have in ones collection.
